Governance of the American Research Center in Egypt is carried out by a board of governors that includes leading scholars in Near Eastern and Middle Eastern studies. The majority of the governors are elected by ARCE's general membership; others are appointed by the institutions that qualify as Research Supporting Members. An Executive Committee, elected from among the board by the governors, supervises the general operations of the Center. The Board elects a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. The Executive Committee appoints the Center's director.

ARCE's board of governors meets annually; the Executive Committee meets semiannually.

RSM designates Research Supporting Members of the ARCE Consortium. The year in parentheses indicates the expiration of the member's term.
