Editor of the Journal of the American Research Center in Egypt (JARCE)

This scholarly journal (ISSN 0065-9991) is an annual that has articles in English, French, or German, and is published for ARCE by Eisenbrauns, Inc.

ARCE is looking for a permanent editor for JARCE. The qualified applicant would have the following responsibilities:

  • Solicits scholarly articles in the areas of Egyptian studies ranging from pre-history to modern times
  • Handles all interaction between contributors and ARCE
  • Establishes a review board of appropriate scholars, as desirable, to vet articles and sees that articles are vetted in a timely manner
  • Edits and proofs all approved articles
  • Works with the publisher, Eisenbrauns, Inc., to see volumes through the publication process in a timely manner
  • Maintains a firm production schedule/timetable so that JARCE is, once again, being published annually

Ideally, the applicant should have a suitable terminal degree in Egyptology and have an appreciation of ARCE’s other areas of scholarly interest including Coptic studies, Islamic studies, and conservation. In addition, preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated previous editorial experience.

Compensation: An honorarium of $1000 per month ($12,000 per annum) will be provided by ARCE.

The Editor of JARCE reports to ARCE’s Director of Publications.
