Chapter: Washington, D.C.

Presenter: Professor Barry Kemp, Director of the Amarna Project

Location: The Egyptian Embassy, 3521 International Court, NW, Washington, DC

Lecture is free and open to the public. Please come and bring a guest.

Presentation Summary: The last few years at Amarna have seen the completion of the topographic survey of the desert behind the city, the study of material excavated from a group of houses in the main city, and several seasons of excavation at the city's main cemetery, accompanied by a study of the human remains. The material found and the discussions it has given rise to help to bring Amarna into a clearer focus.

He has been Field Director at Tell el-Amarna since 1977, pioneering excavations formerly for the Egypt Exploration Society, and now as The Amarna Project supported by the Amarna Trust.
