In 1993 and 1995 ARCE signed agreements with the United States Agency for International Development to administer multimillion-dollar grants in support of work and programs that promote the preservation of Egyptian antiquities.

The Egyptian Antiquities Project (EAP) and the Antiquities Development Project (ADP) were established within ARCE to manage and direct these conservation efforts and to publish the results. The goal of this work is to preserve Egypt’s antiquities for future generations through documentation, conservation, and publication.

Work undertaken through EAP and ADP comprises more than forty projects that span the entire range of Egypt's rich cultural history, from prehistory to the late Ottoman period, including masterpieces of pharaonic, Græco-Roman, Coptic, Jewish, and Islamic art and architecture. These projects are carried out under the auspices of, and in cooperation with, the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
