Public lectures* by specialists in the study of Egypt and the Middle
East are held weekly during the academic year on Wednesday evenings,
beginning at 6:00 pm in the Center’s grand salon. The lectures are open
to all visitors. *Please note that
lectures are not scheduled during Ramadan.
THE MARILYN M. AND WILLIAM KELLY SIMPSON LIBRARY
ARCE's Marilyn M. and
William Kelly Simpson Library contains more than twenty-five thousand
volumes, and is open to ARCE members and visiting scholars. Please visit

RESIDENCE
The Cairo Center
maintains a small residence available to fellows and visiting ARCE
members on a space-available basis. The facility, which has recently
been renovated, includes furnished bedrooms heated and air-conditioned
with shared bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, laundry facilities,
and a lounge.
Adjacent to the American Embassy, one block from
the Nile, three blocks from the Egyptian Museum, and a short cab or
subway ride from the Pyramids, the Khan il-Khalili, and Old Cairo,
ARCE's residence offers comfortable accommodations in the heart of the
city. Single rooms are available at $US 25.00 per night; doubles at $US
50.00, subject to availability.

GERALD L. VINCENT LOUNGE
A small
lounge, adjacent to ARCE's grand salon, offers a quiet and comfortable
space for st'udy and relaxation. A PC, equipped with standard word
processing and spreadsheet programs and internet access, is available to
ARCE fellows and members.
