ARCE can assist members in finding discounted prices at the Shepheard (presently closed) and Semiramis Hotels. They are both in close proximity to Tahrir Square and the US Embassy, and are able to offer security and dining services. To inquire about the cost of either of these hotels and help with bookings, contact Mary Sadek by email, phone (20 2 2794 8239), or fax (20 2 2795 3052).
GERALD L. VINCENT LOUNGE
A small lounge, adjacent to ARCE's grand salon, offers a quiet and comfortable space for study and relaxation. A PC, equipped with standard word processing and spreadsheet programs and internet access, is available to ARCE fellows and members.
NORMA KERSHAW CONFERENCE ROOM
A small conference room at ARCE's Cairo Center provides a collegial setting for small conferences and symposia. In 2001-2002, the Center hosted symposia on Egyptian poetry and historiography, and the conference room has been used more recently to host meetings and lunch gatherings with representatives from embassies, congressional delegations, and the Egyptian government.
