Info about Lecture:

The high status of women in the ancient African society of Kush- including royal women- serves as a fitting focus for the study of female power in the ancient world. In fact, the reverence for the feminine continues in Nubian communities today- one of this presentation’s three themes: persistence as well as power and indigeneity. The talk will feature three songs from Beyonce’s recent production “Black is King”, which emphasize the power and centrality of the African queen mother.
