For 2022, ARCE will be hosting a dual access Annual Meeting consisting of both an in-person meeting and a live-virtual meeting held on two separate weekends, with each portion featuring new content.

Virtual Annual Meeting 

The Virtual Annual Meeting will take place on the weekend of May 6-8, 2022 and will include live virtual-only presentations in non-concurrent sessions. Virtual-only registrants will receive access to the replays of the recorded sessions from the In-Person Meeting. Meeting access information and more details will be forthcoming.

In-Person Annual Meeting   

Registrants to the in-person meeting will receive access to recordings of the in-person presentations as allowed by the presenters, and access to the virtual portion of the meeting. Proof of vaccination is required for all of the in-person participants. ARCE will be following CDC guidance, see COVID policies below.  

Hotel:

Our host hotel is the Irvine Marriott in Irvine, CA. The hotel provides a complimentary airport shuttle from John Wayne (Orange County) airport-airport code SNA. Book your hotel room by April 4th to benefit from the reduced conference rate of $162 + tax per night! The rate is available on the first come, first served basis for check in April 18th to check out on April 25th.

ARCE Annual Meeting Grant for Underrepresented Students: Apply Here!

  • Open to graduate or undergraduate students who self-identify as belonging in an underrepresented group based upon race; color; national origin; religion; sex (including LGBTQ status); disability; or first-generation college student. Applicants must be studying Egyptology, Nubiology, Africology, Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Classical, Islamic, Middle East, and African Studies, or other related fields. 

Student Registration Fee Waiver:

ARCE Student Members may apply for a fee waiver to attend the virtual portion of the meeting. Please complete this form to apply for a registration fee waiver. 

Refund policy:

Refunds are available for the in-person meeting only, minus a $75 administrative fee, and only until April 9, 2022. In order to request a refund of your in-person registration fee, please contact us at AMHelp2022@arce.org. All refunds will be processed after the meeting.

COVID Information:

While we are excited to be hosting our first annual meeting in person since the COVID pandemic began, we take our obligation to make in-person attendance as safe as possible for us all very seriously. Please note that we are only able to welcome fully vaccinated (Meaning at least two weeks have passed since your last vaccination date- Following CDC guidelines for "Fully Vaccinated") Individuals to attend or present in person. When you register to attend in person, you will receive a link from our vaccination authentication provider CLEAR/Event Farm, who will require that you to upload your COVID vaccination card via their secure link. They will then verify its authenticity and let the ARCE staff know when you are cleared and ready to attend in person. If you are not fully vaccinated, we will be delighted to have you join us virtually by watching the replays at your leisure (virtual registration, that includes access to the replays of the recorded sessions for up to a year, costs $75 and includes no live interaction), and hope that we can all be together again in 2023 in Minneapolis.

If you have not already created a CLEAR Health pass, we encourage you to download the CLEAR Health Pass app (with the white background/blue dots) and begin creating your CLEAR account and uploading your vaccination card information. We will then email you an event code about a week before the Annual Meeting, that you will use to link your vaccination card to our Annual Meeting.

Promoting and adhering to COVID protocols does come with a cost, and this cost along with two years of inflation and higher costs across the board due to continuing supply chain challenges have meant that this year's Annual Meeting costs-both in person and virtual attendance- are a bit higher than they were in January 2019. However, we have worked very hard to keep your registration costs the same as 2019, and we want to make it as convenient and safe as possible to be together in person. We can't wait to see you!

Accessing the Meeting 

  • The first time you log in to the Annual Meeting Platform (powered by OpenWater) you will see a splash page with a welcome message. Click “Log In” at the Top of the Navigation Bar. 
  • You will need to enter the email you used to register for the Virtual Annual Meeting in the pop-up box.  
  • When you log in by entering your email, you will see a message in the box that says “success” and directs you back to your email inbox. 
  • Navigate back to your inbox to access the Virtual Annual Meeting website link. Click the link and you will be taken to the platform and given full access to the meeting.
